The new office has been positioned as a strategic gateway within Viettel's global ecosystem, designed to open up new opportunities in key areas such as aerospace, digital transformation, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), and cloud technologies. Present at the inauguration ceremony were Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Member of the Central Military Commission and Deputy Minister of National Defense; Vietnam's Ambassador to Singapore; senior officials from Singapore's Ministry of Defense and other regulatory bodies; along with numerous international tech partners and organizations based in Singapore. In his speech, Deputy Minister Hoang Xuan Chien emphasized that Viettel's presence in Singapore affirms Vietnam's commitment to deeper integration into global value chains and alignment with cutting-edge international standards. He stated: "The Ministry of National Defense fully supports Viettel in expanding international cooperation based on equality, mutual benefit, and respect for international law and national interests. We hope Singapore's government and relevant authorities will continue supporting Viettel to operate effectively and foster tech, investment, and innovation partnerships between the two countries." Speaking on behalf of Viettel, Deputy CEO Cao Anh Son affirmed the group's long-term vision: "Viettel comes to Singapore with the spirit of reliable, sustainable collaboration. We are committed to respecting Singaporean laws, culture, and standards - fostering transparent, mutually beneficial cooperation, and investing in technology, people, and innovation." The new office carries five key missions: Connecting and developing regional and global digital infrastructure Expanding partnerships to deliver national-scale digital transformation solutions Promoting R&D and high-tech industrial development Cultivating high-quality tech talent Strengthening international technology diplomacy to position Viettel as a trusted global tech brand Vietnam's Ambassador to Singapore, Tran Phuoc Anh, praised the move: "In the context of a strong, substantive Vietnam-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the presence of major Vietnamese tech groups like Viettel will help elevate bilateral ties from trade and investment to innovation and future industries." He pledged the embassy's support in helping Viettel and other Vietnamese enterprises connect with partners, expand their footprint, and build sustainable operations in Singapore - all while complying with local laws. During the event, Viettel signed cooperation agreements with leading international tech firms, including ST Engineering, Honeywell International Inc., Airbus, China Unicom, Truvisor, Jinsheng Henxing, Aeronautics, and Commvault Systems. These partnerships focus on critical technology domains such as public safety, cybersecurity, aerospace, data connectivity, AI-based automation, telecommunications, and cloud computing. The aim is to broaden Viettel's partner ecosystem, strengthen its tech capabilities, and accelerate its integration into global value chains. Viettel is not alone in its global push. In 2026, both VNPT and FPT also announced bold expansion strategies. FPT alone earned $1.5 billion from international markets this year.
